Some of our subscribers to our blog do not own farms, so for those of you who don’t have farms here’s a blog you can relate to!
Ollie
Ollie is our 5-year-old male ABCA (American Border Collie Association) registered border collie.
Ollie tends to be rather independent and indifferent, unless the other dogs get into a squabble. We tried to train him in agility, but he didn’t enjoy it as much as we imagined he would.
Ollie LOVES when you throw sticks or rocks into the creek behind our house and could spend the whole day playing in the water. We got Ollie back in TX.
Stella
Stella is our 1 1/2-year-old female Chihuahua, she’s brave, a little smart, and proud. She regularly sits out on the porch at night and barks at the coyotes. She is not very gentle when it comes to small animals.
Stella likes to “hunt” mice, which actually means taking them from the cat and finishing the job herself. She loves going down dens she finds in the woods and has come back with some interesting things. Stella was also from TX, and she’s proud of it.
Zelie
Zelie is our seven-month-old female papillon, she is very vocal and energetic. She likes nothing better than play-fighting with Dakota and Stella.
She gets very excited and likes to wiggle her entire body instead of wagging her tail, she is easy to train during training sessions, she has learned lots of obedience and trick commands, but she would rather do what she wants than what you want if she feels like it.
Zelie is determined to chase anything that moves including XUVs, our cat, and just about anything else.
Zelie was born in Kansas.
Dakota
Dakota is our five-month-old female German Shepherd, she just recently finished six weeks of obedience training and did very well. She has the traditional German Shepherd temperament, but is also very submissive, and wouldn’t question a order given by Stella!
Her guarding instincts are just starting to kick in, she will lay for a long time in front of the door (or if she is inside, she lays next to the door) to guard it, I don’t know what she thinks she’s guarding the house from since she absolutely loves people and would abandon her post immediately if someone really did come up to the house.
When we take her out in public, she does get overly excited about new people, so we will have to work on that before she's 75+ lbs. and squealing and twisting like crazy when new people pet her.
She likes to fetch, play in the creek, with the other dogs and she also likes ridding in the XUV. Dakota was also born in Kansas.
Thank you, Emma C., for the blog suggestion! :)
