Trimming your goats' hooves is very easy and inexpensive, all you need is a pair of sharp trimmers (we get ours from Premier one supplies) and some way to restrain them.
Usually, you would use a milking stand, but other options are, using a collar and a leash to tie them to a fence or have another person hold the goat still while you trim their hooves.
To trim a goats' hooves, bend its leg backward at the knee and trim any hoof that is not flush with the foot. Trim the heel gradually until its even with the sole. Be careful not to trim to far, you can always come back and trim more if you did not trim enough.
To check if you properly trimmed your goats' hooves, set the hoof down and it
should stand on 45-degree angle.
Don't be surprised if your goat resists hoof trimming, most goats don't really like it. Back feet in particular can be a problem for many goats.
