Goat FAQ

Goat kids are one of the most popular animals we sell. We get quite a few questions regarding them. In this blog I will answer the most common ones we receive.

Will They Fit in a Dog Crate?

Yes, you can fit one to two kids that are around eight weeks in a small dog crate and three to four in a large dog crate.

Will They Get Along with Other Animals?

They should be fine with most animals, especially if you keep them together from when they are young. You will have to be careful if you are keeping them with animals that eat grain because if they get a lot at once it could make them very sick.

In general, we have found that it works best to house different species of animals separately, but if you just have a few animals, it should be okay as long as you can keep them away from grain.

What Food and Minerals Should I Give Them?

They can have any type of grass hay (Timothy, Bermuda, prairie etc.) free choice

and then either a goat mineral block or mix, or kelp and a salt block. See our blog Kelp for Your Farm for more information.

Hopefully this blog was helpful, if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions we would love to hear them!
