A-frame Shelters for Pigs

Updated: Nov 8

These are our A-frame shelters we use for our KuneKune sows and piglets. We got the plans and idea from “Raising pigs on green pastures” By Jodi Cronauer.

The A-frame design means you do not have to build a farrowing rail and in cold weather the heat rises and falls back down on the pigs keeping them nice and warm.

We used metal sheets instead of plywood for the walls, it made it so much lighter and helps with keeping it cool by reflecting the sun. Both our sows and their piglets really like the shelters, and enjoy sleeping in them when not grazing, the piglets also know that the shelter is a safe place and will run in to them if scared.
